حد عمل الايلتس حديثا؟

بعد سنتين تقريبا من العناء مع الايلتس ربنا كرمنى وجبت الدرجه وكان باقى يوم والملف يتقفل

امتحنت ست مرات وكورسات ووصلت لدرجه الياس لكن ربنا مش بيضيع التعب

نصيحتى للكل الصبر والكفاح

السوال المهم وماذا بعد الذهاب لكندا

ده اللى عايز اعرفه

My Experience in IELTS

I have sat IELTS twe in 2002 and last week. IELTS is not an exam, it is a test of your ability to use English and the worst way of preparing for it is Studying. To get a good score in IELTS you need to practice English over long time not just for a few months before the exam. You should browse the internet and join forums and post in these forums in ENGLISH.

I have to say I did not study at all for the two exams I had, the first was Academic and the second was general. In 2002 I had three sevens and 6 in listening. Last week I had 9 in reading, 8.5 in listening and 7.5 in the other two modules.

You need to LIVE in English for at least a year. This means reading, writing, listening and speaking in English as your day to day routine.

حتلاقي انجليزى بلهجة غير ايلي اتعلمتيها و ذكرتيها و امتحنتي فيها...الايلتس انجليزى بريطاني...لكن في كندا في ايلتس من نوع امريكاوى :lol: ...ايلتس من نوع غريب.

I have no Arabic keyboard to write in Arabic. The accent is not a big deal. I lived in England for a few years then moved to Scotland,. After moving I did not understand anyone for te first 2 weeks and it was very hard to deal with my patients because of the accent. Those who say that IELTS is British and Canadaian accent is difficult are not right. Yes it will be difficult in the first few weeks but later on it will be fine.

My experience with English exams started with TOEFL back in 2002. I sat the exam without much preparation as I was busy doing other stuff in the States. I got 250 which was very encouraging. I then decided to take Academic IELTS to com here. All what I did is practice the official IELTS materials. In July 2002 I got 7,7,7 and 6 in Listenin in the Academic Module. This year was much better as I have been living in Britain since then.

You needto read alot and quickly. Your mind should get used to getting information in a very short time. . In the real exam I finished reading in 40 minutes and got 9 out of 9. When practicing give yourself 45 minutes for reading. If the information is not given then coose not given. Alot of the questions need common sense not just reading and understanding.

Writing is probably the most difficult for alot of people. You can start by reading good quality essays just to get more ideas and broaden your way of thinking. You all know about the argument and structure of the essay. It will be useful to read alot of essays and then practice writing your own. good book is called Answers to ALL TOEFL Essays. It includes about 400 essays. Also www.ielts-exam.net have some

Listening is not difficult if you practice. It needs alot of concentration but if you miss something on the test day, just use your common sense and try to answer the questions you issed in the 10 minutes while transferring the answers

Speaking topics are all known and you can easily get them online. Think about what you are going to say on the day. Bear in mind that it should be a two way discussion not just repetition of what you memorize. Will be extremely useful to speak to someone in English

بعض النقاط المساعدة في الاختبار / قسم الكتابة .

Some useful tips IELTS writing

• Use paragraphing

• Don’t use very long and tortuous sentences but keep them complex sentences (use clauses)

• Use a very clear and logical build up if it is an argument or a request for something

• Answer or allude to all parts of the question. In writing 20 mins exercise this is easier –just do not omit any information and end up making a statement or request. In the 40 min writing eg If they ask you to compare and contrast you will use phrases and clauses that do exactly that OR if they ask for your opinion give it after balancing out the argument. Somewhere in the piece of writing there should be a central statement that shows where you stand (usually at beginning and restated at the end)

• Use your tenses carefully ie do not go back and forward between past and present tense. Use one and stick to it

• Use clauses with Because, Since, If, as a result of (+gerund eg fighting), in order to, so as to etc

• Balance sentences out eg Poverty is everywhere WHEREAS crime is localized. OR ‘On the one hand ……………… but on the other hand ………………….’ They knew how to write Arabic, however they could not speak a word.

• Use position to emphasize eg Brilliant as they are, they cannot seem to work out simple everyday problems

• Add to your argument by introducing a new sentence with example MOREOVER, ADDITIONALLY

• Use participles sometimes instead of a clause

Past participle Disempowered, as workers are, they cannot bring their arguments to the table (alternative to saying ‘Since workers are disempowered, they cannot….’

Present participle; Constantly striving for bigger and better jobs, they have no time to enjoy their lives (alternative to Because they are striving ---- they have no time)

• Use English idiom only if you know it fits perfectly and is correct in this context

• Never give the impression you are writing stuff that has been previously learned by heart

• Stick to word and time limit (Too few words or too many is penalized)

عارف يا زناتي...قبل ما اهاجر كندا ...اشتريت كل شئ يخص اللغة الانجليزية كتب علي اسطوانات علشان اعمل ريفريش للانجليزية اللي كنت بتكلمها تلات اربع مرات في السنة ...وبفضل الله بأيت بتهته بعد كام اسبوع...لكن الشئ المؤسف بعد ماوصلت كندا وجدت انجليزية غير اللي ذاكرتها ولهجة مختلفة تماما...حتي الفرنسيه وجدتها مختلفة ايضا لما وصلت مقاطعة كيبيك علما باني عملت 120 ساعة في الاليانس فرانسيه في باريس وسابقا كنت بتحدث الفرنسية نظرا لاقامتي في غرب افريقيا فترة من الزمن...الخلاصة الايلتس بريطاني لكن اللهجة اللي حتسمعها في كندا امريكي مخلطة ...والفرنسي بتااع الكيبيكواه :rolleyes: ..سلام قول من رب رحيم.
