فريدمان يشرح السبب الأساسى لغزو العراق

هذا المقال مهم و خطير, رغم أن كل ما جاء به كان معروفا لنا من قبل.

أهمية المقال هى توقيت نشره, مواكبا صيحة عالمية للكشف عن الأكاذيب التى إستعملتها أمريكا و حليفاتها لكى تبرر الحرب , بينما كان لديها أجندات أخرى غير معلنة:

The failure of the George Bush Administration to produce any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq is becoming a big, big story. But is it the real story we should be concerned with? No. It was the wrong issue before the war, and it's the wrong issue now.

Why? Because there were actually four reasons for this war: the real reason, the right reason, the moral reason and the stated reason.

The "real reason" for this war, which was never stated, was that after September 11 America needed to hit someone in the Arab-Muslim world.

Afghanistan wasn't enough because a terrorism bubble had built up over there - a bubble that posed a real threat to the open societies of the West and needed to be punctured.

This terrorism bubble said that ramming planes into the World Trade Centre was OK, having Muslim preachers say it was OK was OK, having state-run newspapers call people who did such things "martyrs" was OK, and allowing Muslim charities to raise money for such "martyrs" was OK.

Not only was all this seen as OK, there was a feeling among radical Muslims that suicide bombing would level the balance of power between the Arab world and the West, because America had gone soft and their activists were ready to die.

The only way to puncture that bubble was for American soldiers to go into the heart of the Arab-Muslim world, house to house, and make clear that Americans are ready to kill, and to die, to prevent their open society from being undermined by this terrorism bubble.

Smashing Saudi Arabia or Syria would have been fine. But America hit Saddam Hussein for one simple reason: because it could, and because he deserved it and because he was right in the heart of that world.

And don't believe the nonsense that this had no effect. Every neighbouring government - and 98 per cent of terrorism is about what governments let happen - got the message. If you talk to US soldiers in Iraq they will tell you this is what the war was about.

The "right reason" for this war was the need to go into partnership with Iraqis, post-Saddam, to build a progressive Arab regime. Because the real weapons of mass destruction that threaten the West were never Saddam's missiles. The real weapons that threaten us are the growing number of angry, humiliated young Arabs and Muslims who are produced by failed or failing Arab states - young people who hate America more than they love life. Helping to build a decent Iraq as a model for others - and solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - are the necessary steps for defusing the ideas of mass destruction, which are what really threaten us.

The "moral reason" for the war was that Saddam's regime was an engine of mass destruction and genocide that had killed thousands of his own people, and neighbours, and needed to be stopped.

But because the Bush team never dared to spell out the real reason for the war, and (wrongly) felt that it could never win public or world support for the right reason and the moral reason, it opted for the stated reason: the notion that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction that posed an immediate threat to America.

I argued before the war that Saddam posed no such threat to America, and had no links with al-Qaeda, and that Bush couldn't take his nation to war "on the wings of a lie". I argued that Bush should fight this war for the right reasons and the moral reasons. But he stuck with this WMD argument for PR reasons.

Once the war was over and I saw the mass graves and the true extent of Saddam's genocidal evil, my view was that Bush did not need to find any WMDs to justify the war for me. I still feel that way. But I have to admit that I've always been fighting my own war in Iraq. Bush took America into his war. And if it turns out he fabricated the evidence for his war (which I wouldn't conclude yet), that would badly damage America and be a very serious matter.

But my ultimate point is this: finding Iraq's WMDs is necessary to preserve the credibility of the Bush team, America's neo-conservatives, Tony Blair and the CIA. But rebuilding Iraq is necessary to win the war. I won't feel one whit more secure if we find Saddam's WMDs, because I never felt he would use them on the West. But I will feel terribly insecure if the West fails to put Iraq onto a progressive path. Because if that doesn't happen, the terrorism bubble will reinflate and bad things will follow.

Bush's credibility rides on finding WMDs, but America's future, and the future of the Middle East, rides on the West building a different Iraq.

We must not forget that.

الحقيقة فريدمان دة شخصية غريبة

دائما تجد انه يخلط في كتاباته مواضيع كثيرة

و أتفق معه في اجزاء مما يقول

و اختلف تماما في أجزاء اخرى

كما انه متبع خط معاكس للحكومة (و نيويورك تايمز عموما توجهها ضد المحافظين الجدد و ضد خط الحكومة و الحزب الجمهوري)

و هذا المقال على نفس المنوال المعهود من فريدمان

اصاب الأخ افوكاتو المنتدى بأختياره هذا المقال والأشارة اليه وأهميته .. كما اصاب التعليق من الأخ الطفشان والذى أشار فى استحياء الى " حربية " {نسبة الى الحرباء } فريدمان .. والأسلوب الإعلامىالذى يتبعة " فريدمان " يعبر عن مدرسة اعلامية معروفة من زمن .. تضرب على اوتار محسوسة وتترك النغمة للقارئ يتبين من المقطوعة ما قد يؤثر فى تقسيرة طبقا لما يحفظه فى مخزن ادراكه مما يترك المجال واسعا امام الصحفى لشرح وجهة نظرة باسباب مختلفة طبقا لفهم القارئ ..

وهذه المدرسة فى الأعلام ليست قاصرة على امريكا او دولة بعينها ولكن فصولها منتشرة فى كل العالم الدول الغنية والدول الفقيرة سواء بسواء ولدينا فى مصر تلاميذ نجباء تخرجوا وعملوا ثم خرجوا نهائيا من الميدان .. واحد تلاميذ هذه المدرسة على سبيل المثال لا الحصر اسامة سرايا رئيس تحرير الاهرام العربى الذى يحمل فى جعبته عدة مزامير ليسمع القارئ النغمة المنشودة حسب الظروف والوقائع والزمن .. ولا اود الإطالة فى ذلك .. واختصر قائلا أن القارئ الواعى ذو القدرة على التحليل وربط الأحداث يستطيع الى حد ما استكشاف اهداف مقالات خريجى هذه المدرسة والخروج من تلك المقالات بالصحيح منها عندما يربط الأحداث بعضها ببعض .. ولدينا فى المانيا صنف آخر من " فريدمان " وبرضه اسمه "فريدمان " تطلقة الصهيونية العالمية عندما تريد كالكلب الملغم الذى يربطون فى وسطه الشحنة المتفجرة متبعا وسيلة الأخ المحاور الخايب فى مصر وانتم طبعا عارفينه .. والفرق بين الأثنين .. " فريدمان " محاور المانيا عقرته شديدة السمية ومحاورنا الخايب عقرته شديدة الفكاهية والسطحية ..

أضف الى هذا ان فريدمان صحفي و كاتب فقط

و ليس سياسي او محلل او مطلع على ما تفعله الحكومة

و لكنه يحاول دائما ان يظهر بمظهر المحلل للامور المطلع عليها

و نجاحه في هذا الجانب محدود

أعتقد أن فريمان أراد إقجام إسم بوش لكى يروج بعض أفكاره الخاصة, و لا يمنع ذلك الحق فى الإعتقاد بأن دوافع بوش فى شن حرب العراق كانت دوافع دينية, و عنصرية, و لكن فريدمان, و أعتقد أنه يؤيد بوش فى هذا الفكر, أراد أن يعرض علنا , مبررات , و أعذار أخرى للهجوم على العراق, غير العذر ا الساذج, ألا وهو اسلحة الدمار الشامل.

ما يريد فريدمان قوله, رغم عدم وجود أسلحة دمار شامل,هو:

" اليكم بعض الأسباب الأخرى, التى لا تقل أهميتها عن أسلحة الدمار الشامل, و كلها منطقية, و أخلاقية, و فى صالح الإنسانية, فاختاروا منها ما يلذ لكم, و و إن لم تعجبكم, فموتوا بغيظكم."

هذه هى قراءتى لمقال فريدمان.

بالفعل أنا نفسى متحير ..فأنا اتابع ما يكتبه فريدمان فى الصحف الأمريكية منذ حوالى سنتين و كان دائما يصدمنى بأسلوبه أحيانا الركيك و خاصة الأفكار المتناثرة هنا و هناك .. الشئ الوحيد الذى يملكه هو أن له إتصالات بمعظم القيادات الأمريكية و العربية .. و لكن لماذا له هذا التأثير على الرأى السياسى الأمريكى و العربى ..لا أعرف.. قد أجد الحل عند أخى الطفشان فهو يعيش معه فى نفس البلد !!!

أما فريدمان الألمانى و هو نائب رئيس الجالية اليهودية فى ألمانيا فهو بالفعل شخصية ذكية و من يقع تحت يده ممكن تكون نهايته مثل السيد مولمان !!

في الحقيقة رأيي في فريدمان هو الاتي

- شخص حصل على جائزة صحفية من فنرة (اظن بوليتزر)

- اهلته هذه الجائزة ليتولى مركزا مرموقا في صحيفة كبيرة (نيو يورك تايمز)

- فاكر نفسه "حاجة"

- مهتم بامور الشرق الاوسط (اسرائيل، الديكتاتورات، الخ)

- افكاره فعلا متناثرة و تجد كذا فكرة في المقال، و تناقضات عجيبة. بعض كلامه جيد و البعض الاخر لا يمكن قبوله

- مستقصد ديكتاتورات العرب من فترة، و منهم مبارك. لدرجة ان مبارك اشتكى منه علنا في احدى مقابلاته مع نيوزويك هنا من بضع سنوات

- كتب عدة خطابات مفتوح على لسان مسئولين، و منها خطاب الى مبارك (على ما اذكر) و خطاب الى وزير الاوقاف و الشئون الدينية السعودي

- هو صحفي و كاتب، و لكن يحاول ان يبدو كمفكر و محلل سياسي

- ليس له اتجاه فكري معين، و يعتبر نفسه مستقل

- و ليس له اتصالات بالقادة الا ما يؤهله له منصبه في صحيفة كبيرة و مهتم بامور الشرق الاوسط

- في النهاية هو لا يمثل الا نفسه، و رأيه لا يعبر عن اتجاه حكومي
